This project, done exclusively through grants, was executed by our firm Pro-Bono. We collaborated with Renown Chef Peter X. Kelley to design the optimal kitchen that would accommodate the programs that the hospital envisioned being taught.
The kitchen was created in the recently renovated historic Dempsey house located on the hospital campus. This new space offers opportunities to bring education to both the community and hospital patients that provide an understanding of how to prepare healthy meals. The instructor will teaching through demonstration and will allow the students to work in a “hands on environment”.
A centrally located oversized Island, with student seating at the perimeter, allows the students to surround the Instructor Prep/cooking area and experience it first hand. Stainless steel portable tables provide stations for the students to execute what they have learned while allowing flexibility to re-arrange the room according to the program at the time.
